On Education, Health Care, and Gender Equality
Preamble
My dear child from the future, just yesterday as I was talking with a good friend Emily, an idea popped up on my mind.
I am imaging as of now, in 2022, how 2032 would be like as a mother. The issues that concerns me and the values that I care for the most hopefully will find their own way ten years from now. And that you can grow up happily. For that, I need to write for us. So that you can understand your mother as a person if you want, and I can always remind myself of my initial incentives if ever I forget.
In short, this is an evolving journalistic(aka. survival) guide series based on personal experiences, followed with literature research and interviews.
I was always a curious kid, and then a confused adult. I didn’t understand why inquisitive mind in different ages would lead to different connotations.
I thought I was from the future too, sometimes my imagination and transparency went beyond the sky. School and University Education didn’t make me flourish, I suffered from bullying. Working experiences didn’t give me stable lives, but a realization that I couldn’t stand the hierarchy. Travelling didn’t confirm that ‘grass is always greener on the other side‘ . My cern believes were continuously dismantled and I had breakdowns, and then I built another belief or theory, moved to another land, and had breakdowns again. Constant re- and de- structions by positivism left me no choice but to believe in myself.
I assume you’d have zillions of confusions too, thus this simple and easy guide. If anytime you need to run away from me physically, these are the principles — — run to a place where there is a good health care that you can afford, accessible books and equipments that make up a good space to self-entertainment, and there — — people treat you as who you are, gender makes no difference.
Lab Log
This oeuvre would be done on a daily basis. Starting from today, I am reading a Swedish governmental report on pharmaceutical prices compared with other 19 EU countries. I am not an EU resident. But it is a means for me to examine a better health care system. And if ever, there could be a global health care system? I just sense it’s a need. And will just appear someday. Because global pandemic has been our normal. Since a disease is normalized, so will the corresponding systems to accomodate the change.
